Simulation for Strategic Workforce Planning

In healthcare our key resource is our people, but how do we plan for the people we need without knowing the activity they need to deliver?

In the workshop we drew on real service transformation projects where simulation has been used to examine staffing requirements by skill mix, both now and in the future. Learn how simulation was used to re-work nursing roles at an outpatient procedure clinic to release more time to care, and how staff availability impacted patient flow at an outpatient surgery clinic. We also demonstrated how these results could be used for whole system workforce planning.
